Pre-Season Projects (aka Maintenance) |
As you all know with Devon being 68 years old there is always a project that needs done, something needs fixed or things need updated. We are doing the best we can with the limited revenue we have to address the items that need addressed in order to open safely and will continue to looking for grants to help re-vamp the large items. We have been very busy working to make this the best summer at Devon possible: Painted the whole main pool (minus the floor of the deep end)Trimmed all the trees over the main drive in, pushed back the tree line in the parking lot, and cut and trimmed several other treesAll new gutters and some soffits on the main building8 out of 10 working pool lights (last year we had 3)Drinking fountain has been installed at tennisSmall concrete repairs were done on the pool deckLingering plumbing issues were addressed and fingers crossed we won’t have any issues this season – the amount of diapers, wipes and paper towels we pulled out was truly amazing, going to really ask membership to be aware of what they are flushing. All new pipes for the showers and new shower headsPool was filled on May 4th and the heaters turned on to be ready for opening day! |
We still have some work to do so hoping you can join us for work hours – Wednesday May 15th 5:30-8pm or Saturday May 18th 11am-4pm. I might add some other hours if we need them, but hoping we are all set! If you can’t get down to help, but want to feel a part of opening please make a donation – as you can see above we have had a lot of projects and can certainly use the donation. |
Welcome back Indy Water Watchers |
Excited to welcome back Indy Water Watchers for the third season! Partnering with them definitely helps make Devon better. They have also been busy at Devon, installed a new filter on baby pool and some new additions in the pump house. We are lucky to have Cody and Maecee as part of the Devon family again for the 2024 season. I have no doubt they will hire a great staff for us too! |

And she shared a way to show your support. If you’d like to help support the Olympic Team Trials here in Indy, yard signs are now available! If you live within 20 miles of downtown Indy, request a yard sign to be delivered to you OR pick up your sign at several locations around the Indy area! 🏊🥇 Request a sign for deliveryor visit aPick up location |
Final Thoughts |
As we gear up for Summer 2024 I just wanted to remind all of you that Devon is a 100% volunteer run organization. Without members showing up to help, Devon does not open. Being a member of Devon truly is one of the highlights of my past 12 summers and I cannot imagine not having Devon to head to for these amazing summer months. The amount of hours put in to get Devon open is nothing but a labor of love that I know so many of you share. With that thought keep in mind there are sometimes glitches or hiccups we need to work through as we ramp up to to opening in 11 days. Be patient as I said above the folks trying to get everything right are volunteers juggling a lot! I can always be reached by replying to a Remind message, or email at molcarnes@aol.com or my cell which is 317-709-8041. Do not hesitate to reach out. I have tried the past couple of months to reply to each email or question that has come in and appreciate your patience as we all work real jobs – and sometimes in the off season Devon isn’t top of mind!
